WELCOME TO YEAR 6

The children’s learning each term will be led by an enquiry question.  In the Autumn Term the children will consider the question “Why was there a struggle between the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings and who won what?”

In Spring, they will investigate, “In which ways was the Mayan Civilization more or less advanced than Britain in AD 900?”

In the Summer Term we will ask “How is North America similar and different to the North West of England?”

This work will be inspired by a range of engaging texts and be supported by local visits and school trips.

Important Information for Year 6:

  • The children will have an indoor and outdoor PE session each week.  The days will change depending on the activity they are doing therefore please ensure your child has a PE kit in school every day.
  • Reading book and records also need to be in school every day.
  • Pupils are expected to read every day to develop their love for reading and to consolidate and apply all multiplication and division tables up to 12 x 12 including inverse operations.
